It’s finally that time of the year that so many of us look forward to! Pick up the sports apparel and lets get ready for some football. For some devoted fans, every game that you watch is the ‘big game’. And a lot of you fans are looking forward to being able to support your favorite team(s) in person. There is no comparison between watching the game on your television and being there to personally experience the fumbles, touchdowns, cheering, and flavors of the game. But, as the season progresses, winter approaches; and it is vital that you and your family are dressed properly when going to see your favorite team in action. A lot of people simply know that it is going to be cold so they do bundle up a bit; but, they do not want to feel confined. This is what keeps one from being properly protected from the elements. And this can cause problems for your body. It does not matter how you fared last season, hypothermia and frostbite can be a problem for all of us. At any time.

While attending a football game in colder weather, your body won’t be doing too much moving around. Because of this, you will feel even colder, and your blood flow will be slower. There is a great deal of sports apparel out there that can be both functional and comfortable. If you peruse the internet, you should even be able to find clothing that keeps your body warm, while displaying your team’s logo, colors and so forth. When looking at sports apparel to wear to that big game that is taking place in thirty degree temperatures, keep extremities and your head in mind. More than forty percent of your body temperature is lost through your head. Keep it warm and dry. To protect your hands, wear mittens (not gloves). Mittens will allow for better circulation of any body heat in your hands. Wear a good pair of thick socks (perhaps two). Opt for socks that are made with wicking material, which will pull any moisture away from your feet and keep them warmer.

As far as other body covering, dress in layers. Your clothing does not have to be so thick that you can barely move. When dressing for those cold weather games, quality of clothing is what you want to look for. Again, there are plenty of places to find your favorite sports apparel that will also function in the way that you need. The layer next to your skin on top may be something like a lightweight, polyester, winter top that has that important wicking needed to remove moisture from your body. A good middle layer would be something like a fleece jacket. For the outer layer, you could opt for a good nylon jacket, which does not have to be huge (and this material will also protect you from possible rain/snow). For the bottom half of your body, you may opt for two layers. Start with a quality pair of silk or polyester thermal underwear. Cover them with jeans or your most comfortable bottoms.

If your children are going to the game with you, be sure that you dress them in the same manner that you would. Keep in mind that smaller body parts may be more prone to hypothermia and frostbite. There cannot be enough emphasis put upon how important it is to keep fingers, ears, toes, heads and noses covered during cold weather. Again, you don’t have to look like the Pillsbury dough boy when you go to those winter games. You can wear your favorite sporting apparel and support your team while being safe at the same time. If you cannot find the specialized cold-weather gear at a sporting goods store, they can easily be found online. You may even find specials that way. So, show your support and stay warm!

Women who engage in any sporting activity, especially jogging and walking, are prone to permanent breast damage. The bouncing motion than occur during these two types of exercise can cause a great deal of stress to a woman’s breast. Breasts are composed of mammary glands, muscle, and mainly fatty tissue. Any muscle is deeper within the breast, which means that what muscle is there does not necessarily help much in the area of support.

Coopers Ligaments are what actually hold your breasts up. All of the repetitive bouncing that takes place during jogging and faster walking stretches out these ligaments. You may begin to get stretch marks, and before you know it, you are in good health but your breasts are sagging down toward your belly button! All of the bouncing may also cause a good deal of back pain. Since corrective surgery is the only available option for those who already have saggy breasts, prevention is the key.

While engaged in exercise, it is essential for every woman to wear a good sports bra. Of which, there are two basic types:

Compression bras basically keep your breasts pressed against your chest. After giving birth, some women who do not plan on breast-feeding will wrap their chest in an Ace bandage. This keeps the breasts pressed tightly enough to stop milk production. This is essentially what the compression bra does. It typically comes in racer-back or regular back, and since it basically looks like a tank top cut in half, it can be worn without a shirt over it.

Compression bras can be found in almost any online retail store. This type of sports bra may suffice for smaller breasted women, but those with larger breasts (or those who can definitely feel a bounce) should choose a sports bra that offers even more support; such as an encapsulation bra.

Encapsulation bras offer defined cup sizes and the breasts are kept separate, similar to a traditional bra. This type of jog bra will offer more support to greatly reduce bounce, and will also assist in reduction of any back pain. Because the encapsulation sports bras may look more like traditional bras, you will probably want to wear clothing over it. Encapsulation sports bras may not be as easy to find in retail stores as the compression bras. You may need to do some research in order to find an actual sporting goods store. Another option, which may also allow you to find a greater variety, would be to purchase this type of sports bra online.

Now that you know the two basic types of sports bras, there are some other aspects of sports bras to keep in mind:

Be sure that the fabric of your sports bra allows for breathing. You may find bras that have a wick, which will pull any sweat from your body.

Comfort is important. Be sure that your sports bra is the correct size so that it will not impede with your ability to breathe properly during your exercise routine.

Be sure that the straps of your sports bras are wider than those of your regular bras. This will help keep the straps from digging into to top of your shoulders, while also offering even more support.

Some companies recommend replacing your sports bras after a certain number of washed. Pay attention to care descriptions on labels.

Remember that without proper support, the shape of your breasts will be permanently altered. Invest in some good sports bras now so that you won’t have to even consider cosmetic surgery in the future.

A great deal of people worldwide have made jogging or walking their main or only form of exercise. These two activities strengthen both your bones and your heart. Runners and walkers burn calories and have lower blood pressure. If you choose to take up running or a daily walking routine, you will certainly be helping your body. Three great things about these two forms of exercise is that they are beneficial for your overall health, require virtually no skill, and can be done any time and any place. You cannot take the gym with you on business trips. When your family goes on vacation, you probably can’t take any home equipment with you. All you need is your legs. You know the benefits of jogging or running, but did you know the benefits of proper activewear for these activities?

Most jogging/walking apparel is made of lightweight polyester. Most importantly, you can now purchase activewear that has wicking in the fabric. This wicking pulls the moisture from your body as you sweat and is beneficial during all seasons. During the summer runs, your body will remain cooler; and during the winter run, the wicking will pull away the sweat and keep you warmer by doing so. Out of all the different activewear that is available, you could spend days searching athletic stores for attire suitable for you or you may do all of your researching and purchasing over the internet to save time and money.

Keeping in mind the material (as well as your surrounding environment) you may now decide what type or style of activewear will meet your needs. Jogging apparel has been specially designed for runners. Creators of this activewear have kept in mind the stress that such exercise can put on the human body. You may want to add a couple of lightweight jogging tees to your wardrobe for the summer months (and remember to keep the wicking in mind). During the winter, you will also want a long-sleeve top that has the moisture-pulling wick. Wear layers, especially in extremely cold locations. The thin wicking top should be next to your skin, then a middle layer (such as a fleece or sweat shirt), then finish with an outer layer. Nylon would be a good choice for the outer layer, as it can protect you against rain and wind.

Protect your hands and feet from the elements with mittens and thick socks that have a wick (there are several socks that protect runners/walkers from the elements and from blisters as well). During the summer, you may choose from a variety of lightweight shorts. You want the fabric to breathe and aid in protecting your thighs from heat rash. During your winter jogs, make sure that your legs are protected as well. Use the same guidelines for function and wicking when it comes to covering your legs. We lose about forty percent of our body heat through our heads, so keep yours warm during the winter. During the winter time, a good rule of thumb is to dress as if it is ten degrees warmer than it really is outside. You don’t want to sweat too much under a bunch of layers.

Walkers should follow the same guidelines as joggers when choosing activewear. No matter what the season, and no matter if you are a jogger or a walker, you may want to stay away from cotton (which tends to soak up moisture). Good shoes are also essential for runners and walkers. Do your research and know that this is one investment that can save you some aches and pains, as well preventing shin splints. Shoes should fit your feet properly and be specific to your needs (walking vs jogging). They should breathe well and be water resistant.

As far as styles go, it is possible to look good while walking/jogging. This is important for some people. Of all the activewear available, there are plenty of colors and styles/fashions to fit your wishes. Leggings, shorts, leotards, tank tops, halter tops, t-shirts, shorts, fitted shorts, and much more can allow you to exercise in a fashionable way (if that is what you choose).

As an individual who has active in playing one or more sports, it is essential to have clothing that suit your needs. There are plenty of malls and shopping centers that offer a myriad of sports stores for the true sports enthusiast. Another option is to look on the internet; which can take the hassle out of shopping. The internet is also a great tool in researching the type of athletic clothing that you need. Whatever your sport may be, comfort and function are key when choosing a wardrobe. When it comes to finding what to wear during your sporting event/activity, you will need to consider how your body moves and works during that particular activity. Then you can choose what you need; from top to bottom. Much of the research has already been done, as far as how your body works and moves during sports.

The clothing needs of a golfer are not the same needs of a basketball or football player. Though you may find a huge variety of athletic clothing for baseball players, you will need to also keep in mind certain environmental factors. That soccer clothing you purchased last winter in Florida may not be suitable for wearing this winter in North Carolina. In hotter climates, not matter what the sport, you may wish to invest in clothing that is made with a special wicking material (which will pull any sweat and moisture away from your body). And it is obvious that the soccer player would not wear the same clothing as the football player. And, you would not play golf in the same shoes that you jog in. It does not matter if you play in an organized league, or if you are just going to play some basketball with friends, you really do need to care to pay attention to your attire. Doing so will protect your body and perhaps improve your game.

For example, when playing baseball, you will want pants that are relaxed and reinforced in the knees. You may also want to choose a jersey that is made with a wicking mesh fabric. Again, fabric is very important. As a baseball player, you are outside and exposed to the elements. Good wicking is important no matter what the season, and you also want your clothing to breathe well. Double hems are good, as they will allow your clothing to last longer. Your top needs to be the correct size for you, as you do not want anything interfering with your pitching, batting, or catching. And, depending on the weather, you may want to purchase a long-sleeve top to wear under your main jersey. Look for the same qualities in any under-clothing.

Now that we’ve looked at athletic clothing needed for baseball, let’s compare to what is needed while playing basketball. You will, like baseball, want to opt for clothing that is durable and breathes well. Basketball can be constant movement and no mater what the season, you will sweat a great deal. Fabric is essential, and like other athletic wear, you might choose to go with clothing that offers the moisture-removing wick material. While baseball players wear cleats, basketball players need to choose a good shoe that has been designed for wear on the court. When trying on shoes, think of comfort and function. You would never want to invest in a shoe if the ankle collar is way too high. This would limit movement and possibly cause injury.

If you did not know before, now you know that athletic apparel is very important for those wishing to engage in sports. Again, it does not matter if you just play golf on weekends, or if you belong to a basketball league; your apparel really does need to be a concern.
